Blockbusters Win, 3-1, at St. Louis
|
Los Angeles Blockbusters starter Ralph Weintraub turned in a top-notch performance against the St. Louis Explorers at Corps of Discovery Stadium. The result was a win for the Blockbusters, 3-1. In 8 innings, Weintraub surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Basil Anderson wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Los Angeles used the hitting of Jim Brookins to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Blockbusters on top, 2-0. For the game, Brookins had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Brookins.
The Explorers fall to 10-11 and continue their wobbly start to the 1974 season.
