St. Louis and Chicago duked it out and the Explorers came out victorious.

The St. Louis Explorers picked up a win at Union Field, downing the Chicago Traders, 7-4. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Bob Trout, who played a pivotal role in the win. Alex Alonso, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

Tom Guinn hit a bases-clearing triple off Jose Mojica in the top of the fourth, which put the Explorers in front, 4-1. Guinn had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 5.

"I can't say enough about Bob," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood. "He stepped up when we needed him."

After losing, Chicago is 0-3.
