Empires Subdue Twin Cities, 5-4
|
The New York Empires racked up a win at Twin Cities Stadium, bumping off the Twin Cities Northmen, 5-4. Nate Frampton, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. Chuck Hinck recorded the save, his 3rd. For the Northmen, the loss makes them 7-14.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jerry Parker? The New York center fielder had a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Empires on top, 3-0. For the game, Parker had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Parker. "And not try to do too much."
