The St. Louis Explorers got a stellar effort from pitcher Randy Birch, helping St. Louis score a win over the visiting Milwaukee Dairymen, 5-2. Ramon Sandoval was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Denny Grissinger. Earning his 4th save for St. Louis was Alex Alonso.

Tom Row drove in one run for St. Louis. The 28-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Danny Guerra. It was his 1st RBI of the season.

"I still think this team can play even better," Row told the St. Louis Observer.
