Atlanta Generals starter Erv Couch turned in an exceptional performance against the Los Angeles Pobladores at Atlantic Station Field, resulting in a Atlanta win, 3-2. Couch, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 4 walks. The loss makes the Pobladores 8-15.

Luis Torres produced at a critical juncture for Atlanta. It happened in the bottom of the eighth with Mike Lowe on the mound and Atlanta leading 2-0. That's when the 23-year old third baseman Torres hit a sacrifice fly.
