Kansas City Dealt 6-2 Defeat
|
San Diego picked up a win at San Diego Sporting Complex, bumping off the Kansas City Bulls, 6-2. Pitcher Ray McKenzie was a major reason the Captains emerged victorious. The Captains raised their record to 2-1.
Kent Schiffer had a big bases-clearing double for the Captains in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Diego leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a splitter from 36-year old left-handed pitcher Tim McDonald and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Captains ahead, 5-0.
"Ray had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
