Bluebirds Topple Explorers, 6-1
The Brooklyn Bluebirds beat the St. Louis Explorers, 6-1. Brooklyn pitcher and St. Louis, Missouri, native Damon Rutherford led the way. The Explorers fall to 8-14 and continue their uneven start to the 1968 season.

The Bluebirds got an important contribution from first baseman Tom Austin, who in the bottom of the third punched a 1-1 fastball into right for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Bluebirds ahead, 5-0.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Austin told the Brooklyn Times.
