Packers Deal New York 6-1 Defeat
Alex Fonseca, who finished 2nd in the NBL in innings pitched with 258.2 in 1972, had a strong outing for the Cincinnati Packers against the New York Knickerbockers at Roman Arena. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 6-1 win. Fonseca, who finished 2nd in the NBL in innings pitched with 278.0 in 1975, went the distance for Cincinnati. He gave up 1 run on 9 hits. With the loss, New York is 2-1.

Jerry Anderson had a big 3-run home run for the Packers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Dario Fontanez, who finished 3rd in the NBL in strikeouts with 173 in 1970, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Packers on top, 5-1.

"Alex did a tremendous job," said Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch.
