The Baltimore Lords picked up a win at Seton Hill Stadium, knocking off the Houston Drillers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Dan Valenti was a big reason why. The triumph makes Baltimore 13-9, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 1977.

Had Tom Payton not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Payton hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Lords.

"Bottom line," said Houston skipper Tom Harrington, "we didn't play well enough to win."
