Morford Collects Cycle
|
It was a special day for Larry Morford at Knickerbocker Stadium. Not only did Morford's Milwaukee Dairymen beat the New York Knickerbockers, 5-0, but the left fielder hit for the cycle along the way.
The 28-year-old Morford racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the record books. For the game, he went 4-for-4 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.
"He hit everything we threw," said Knickerbockers manager Sean Kelly. "There was just no getting him out today."
Speaking to the press after the game, Morford said his goal for the day had been to look for "first pitch fastballs."
"I got some good looks today," he said.
Larry Morford hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Danny Abril in the 8th.
This year, Morford is batting .307 with 27 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 8 times and has batted in 15 runs.
