The San Diego Captains defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 7-5, at San Diego Sporting Complex. Leading the charge for San Diego was first baseman Gary Jordan. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. San Diego reliever Ed Prater picked up the win to move to 2-0. Steve Eaton suffered the loss. Cleveland now has a record of 12-12.

Ron Roe, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in stolen bases with 6, took Cleveland hurler Steve Eaton deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Captains on top, 7-5. In all, Roe had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
