Quakers Win, Spilling Bluebirds, 5-3
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Brooklyn Bluebirds and Philadelphia Quakers get after it.
The Philadelphia Quakers cut down the Brooklyn Bluebirds by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to third baseman Tom Stutzman. Stutzman went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Quakers. Chuck Galloway picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-0 on the season. He struck out 1 and walked 3 in 7 innings, while yielding 3 runs. The save was credited to Sid Shafer, his 1st.
Philadelphia shortstop Gary Neyland helped the Quakers go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Neyland hit a run-scoring single off Brooklyn pitcher Antonio Valerio.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Stutzman.
With the loss, Brooklyn drops to 1-2.
