The Houston Drillers got a strong performance from pitcher Mike Brown, who stymied the Seattle offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Sam Houston Field. The winner was Brown. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Denny Goldberg. Tom McAteer finished to wrap up his 5th save.

The Drillers got a big hit from shortstop Jim Johnson. Facing Seattle pitcher Denny Goldberg in the bottom of the fifth, Johnson pounded a run-scoring double to left. His 3rd double of the season put the Drillers ahead, 2-0.

"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Johnson. "Obviously."

The win puts Houston at 14-10.
