Quakers Edge Past Industrials, 5-4
The Philadelphia Quakers defeated the Pittsburgh Industrials, 5-4. Doing his part was first baseman Hillyer Bryan, who was 2-4 with 2 home runs. The winner in relief was Bill Kaiser. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With their winning streak at 6, the Quakers have raced to a strong start this season.

Philadelphia used a clutch hit from Chuck McCormick to get the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Quakers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"If we keep winning the close games," McCormick said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
