Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Toronto Hurons and Houston Drillers.

Toronto turned a good effort from starter Bill John into a win over the Houston Drillers at Dominion Field. The final score was 6-1. John picked up the win for Toronto, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-2.

Roberto Hinojosa had a big 2-run double for the Hurons in the bottom of the first inning. With Toronto leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from two-time All-Star Randy Robins and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hurons ahead, 4-0.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Hinojosa.

The Drillers drop to 11-13 and continue their mediocre start to the 1973 season.
