Seattle Emeralds starter Jack Pace pitched his team past the Houston Drillers, 1-0. Pace yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. Houston is 11-12 after the defeat.
Freddie Boone did the little things right to help the team for Seattle. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Francisco Castro. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Seattle manager Mark Velez said.
