Hurons Shut Out Habitants, 2-0
|
Toronto turned a good effort from starter Larry Haines into a win over the Montreal Habitants at LaSalle Stadium. The final score was 2-0. Haines went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-2. Montreal falls to 13-12.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Charlie Steinberg was at the plate when Toronto scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Hurons to go in front, 1-0.
"Larry -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Hurons manager Jim Burns. "He was the key to us winning."
