Explorers Squelch Eagles Offense in Shutout Win
Dick Lott, who is tied for 6th in the NBL with a 2.25 ERA, propelled his team to victory over the Washington Eagles. The final score was 5-0, St. Louis. The Eagles, now 8-17, continue their sluggish start.

St. Louis second baseman Dave Bieler contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Explorers ahead, 2-0.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood.
