6-5 Win for New York Over Twin Cities
|
Twin Cities Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the New York Empires and Twin Cities Northmen.
Jon Pierce, who is tied for 2nd in the ABL in wins with 4, was locked in. The left-hander led the New York Empires to a 6-5 win against the Twin Cities Northmen at Twin Cities Stadium. In 8 innings, Pierce surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 4 runs. Jack Pratt picked up the save for New York, his 2nd of the year.
New York first baseman Lowell Bickle contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Empires ahead, 4-2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Bickle after the game.
The setback makes the Northmen 10-15.
