The Brooklyn Bluebirds rode a solid performance from 30-year-old starting pitcher Jorge Sandoval to a win, beating the Milwaukee Dairymen, 3-2, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Bob Hill notched his 5th save of the season. The defeat makes Milwaukee 11-16.

Jimmy Mara had a direct impact on the outcome. Mara contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Brooklyn up, 3-0.

"We found a way to get it done," Mara said.
