Baltimore Downed, 8-4, by Hurons
|
Baltimore first baseman Woodie Scheideler had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-4, to Toronto at Seton Hill Stadium. Scheideler was 3-3 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The winning pitcher was three-time All-Star Joe Scott. He tossed 104 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The win gives Toronto a record of 14-13.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Bill Hunt to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hurons on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Hunt told the Toronto Citizen.
