Haines Spins 2-0 Shutout Against Twin Cities
Larry Haines of the Boston Terriers was on top of his game.

The 30-year-old tantalized the Twin Cities Northmen with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 2-0.

"He had the changeup working," Twin Cities manager Jason Gudim said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Boston hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 4 walks and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.

Haines told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

On the season, Haines has compiled a 1-2 mark with a 3.75 ERA in 5 starts. In pitching 36 innings he has 21 strikeouts and 22 walks while limiting the opposition to a .250 batting average.
