Bennett Stars as Bluebirds Top Dairymen, 7-3
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds beat the Milwaukee Dairymen, 7-3, at Flatbush Park. Mike Bennett, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1967 draft, starred for Brooklyn. He was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Dave Teckenbrock, who went 7.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 1. His record now stands at 6-0. The Dairymen, now 10-19, continue their sluggish start.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Bennett hit a 3-run home run off Dan Valenti. It propelled the Bluebirds into the lead, 3-0.
"I like our mindset right now," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker.
