Pobladores Get One-Run Win at Atlanta
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Los Angeles Pobladores got the win.
Dan Turner, who finished 4th in the ABL in ERA with 2.01 in 1972, propelled his team to victory over the Atlanta Generals. The final score was 3-2, Los Angeles. Turner yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-2.
Los Angeles used a well-timed hit by Dick Hoffmeier to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pobladores ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I felt good up there," said Hoffmeier. "I saw the ball well."
The defeat makes Atlanta 18-9.
