The San Diego Captains overcame a pretty good performance by Cleveland second baseman Benito Olivas, beating the Bobcats, 4-3, at Lakefront Stadium. Olivas went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Jack DeWitt picked up the save, his 5th. With the loss, Cleveland is 15-13.

San Diego won the game in part because of Reynaldo Bernal. The third baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Captains ahead, 3-2. For the game, Bernal had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"Big team win," Bernal said later.
