Lords Stumble, Lose to Hurons
|
Toronto third baseman Dave Browning made his presence felt in the 8-4 Hurons triumph over the Baltimore Lords. Browning went 4-4 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alfonso Sosa, the winner, is now 2-2. He struck out 2 and walked 0 over 8 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. Now 10-18, the Lords have gotten off to a poor start.
With Toronto leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Browning hit a run-scoring single off Baltimore hurler John Fredrick. It was the 22nd hit of the season for Browning and put his team ahead, 2-0.
Toronto manager Jim Burns commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
