Industrials Come Up Short at New York, 1-0
New York starter Dave Torre put a stranglehold on the Pittsburgh offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Knickerbockers to a 1-0 win. The winner was Torre. He threw 8.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Ron Winder. Ollie Hundley, who is a two-time All-Star, nailed down the save.

The biggest at-bat came in the top of the ninth. The score was 1-0, Knickerbockers. With a runner on 1st and two down, Ollie Hundley retired Bill May with a 2-1 sinker. May flied out.
