Habitants Rally Late to Clip New York
|
The Montreal Habitants and New York Empires played an exciting game.
The Montreal Habitants had to overcome a good performance from New York pitcher Jon Pierce to claim a 3-2 win at Queens Field. Pierce went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Dave Quinlan got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Mark Weeks earned save number 1 this season.
Montreal needed the clutch hitting of Jim Foulke to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Habitants on top, 3-2. For the game, Foulke had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Tough wins, hard-earned wins, feel extra good," said Foulke.
New York is now 15-14.
