Bobcats Victorious at Brooklyn, 4-3
|
Though he had a terrific game, Dave Fogarty could not prevent his team, the Brooklyn Bluebirds, from absorbing a loss. Cleveland won the game, 4-3. Fogarty was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. Cleveland reliever Roger Scherf picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Dick Conway was tagged with the loss. Joe Clabaugh picked up the save for Cleveland, his 4th of the year.
Cleveland used a clutch at-bat from Phil Chirico to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bobcats ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We took home the win," said Chirico. "What's not to like?"
Cleveland goes to 19-11.
