With 3-1 Win, Empires Go to 16-14
|
Bob Schar pitched well, but his team, the Montreal Habitants, still dropped a 3-1 decision to the New York Empires at Queens Field. New York reliever Dave Kretz was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Bob Schar. Jack Pratt was called on to finish, recording his 9th save.
New York first baseman Lowell Bickle helped the Empires go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Bickle hit a run-scoring single off Montreal pitcher Bob Schar.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
With the loss, Montreal falls to 16-14.
