Wolverines Topple Hurons, 9-2, as Morrison Shines
Detroit left fielder Pete Morrison helped his team beat the Toronto Hurons, 9-2. Morrison, who finished 2nd in the ABL in slugging percentage with .577 in 1969, went 4 for 5 for the Wolverines. Jim Bryant got the win, improving to 4-3. He worked 9 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The Wolverines, now 21-9, have hit the ground running this season.

Detroit won the game in part because of Troy Stallings. The first baseman ripped a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 6-0. For the game, Stallings had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema.
