Explorers Earn 3-2 Home Win
St. Louis pitcher Dick Lott had a large part in his team subduing the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The loss puts Los Angeles at 16-15.

St. Louis catcher Charlie Bartels contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Explorers ahead, 3-0.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Los Angeles manager John Trausch. "But we decided not to take it."
