Drillers Need Extra Innings to Top Pobladores, 9-8
San Vicente Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Houston Drillers and Los Angeles Pobladores.

The Houston Drillers topped the Los Angeles Pobladores, 9-8, in 13 innings at San Vicente Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston third baseman Jerry Duersch. Houston reliever Rick McStay was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Larry Seger took the loss.

Houston used the timely hitting of Lou Ward to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Drillers on top, 9-8. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Houston manager Jared Placeholder.

The Pobladores drop to 12-21, as their fitful start to the 1975 campaign continues.
