Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Dairymen beat the Knickerbockers.

The Milwaukee Dairymen defeated the New York Knickerbockers, 8-5. Catcher Charlie Fee deserved a large share of the credit. Fee went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Dairymen. Archie Sereni, 2-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Angel Gutierrez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New York pitcher Wayne Houston, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 6-5.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Gutierrez said.

New York now is 14-18.
