Pobladores Win Thriller, 6-3
|
The Los Angeles Pobladores took Atlanta pitcher Bill Davis's best shot and still were able to claim a win at San Vicente Park. The final score had Los Angeles getting past the Generals, 6-3. Davis went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 6. Pete Betzel, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The loss makes Atlanta 19-12.
The decisive blow was delivered by Paul McCarthy in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Frank Noorani to win the game for Los Angeles. The home crowd went nuts.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said McCarthy.
