Lintner Slugs Empires to 5-4 Win
The New York Empires and Chicago Hawks obliged fans looking for a good time.

Getting offensive support from Rick Lintner, the New York Empires topped the Chicago Hawks, 5-4. Lintner went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Empires. Andy Humphrey earned the win for New York. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 4-3.

Paul Brower went 2-4 with 2 singles for New York. The 26-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring single off Billy Reed. It was his 19th hit of the season.

"We take it day by day here," said Lintner, "and today was a good one for us."
