The New York Empires defeated the Twin Cities Northmen, 5-4, at Queens Field. Leading the charge for New York was third baseman Rick Lintner. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Empires improved their record to 19-14 with the win over Twin Cities.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Lintner hit a fastball from Gary Forgette for a run-scoring single. The Empires, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Twin Cities manager Jason Gudim.
