Stambaugh Tosses 4-0 Shutout Against Detroit
|
The Detroit Wolverines manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the San Francisco Seagulls. The Wolverines were overpowered by San Francisco starter Tim Stambaugh, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Alex Wobbema said.
Over 9 innings, Stambaugh blanked Detroit on 4 hits with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Stambaugh said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
For the year, Stambaugh has a 5-2 record with a 1.07 ERA in 8 starts.
