The St. Louis Explorers knocked off the Washington Eagles, 1-0, in National Baseball League action at Monument Field. St. Louis pitcher and Festus, Missouri, native Randy Birch had an outstanding performance. Birch yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-4. Earning his 1st save for St. Louis was Ramon Sandoval.
