Bluebirds Take Tight Tilt
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds picked up a win at Flatbush Park, courtesy of Bill Keiser. The left-hander helped his team stop the Philadelphia Quakers, 3-2. Keiser, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Bob Hill earned the save for Brooklyn, his 2nd.
John Seidler, who finished 2nd in the NBL in slugging percentage with .528 in 1963, chipped in for Brooklyn with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Philadelphia manager Jeff Green. "The effort was great."
The defeat makes Philadelphia 2-2.
