Chicago Downed, 4-2, by Bluebirds
|
Skip Crawford pitched well, but the Chicago Traders still lost the game, falling, 4-2, to the Brooklyn Bluebirds at Union Field. Dave Gaultney, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 4-0. Bob Hill earned his 9th save, after closing out the game.
Brooklyn needed the clutch hitting of Ron Freeman to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bluebirds on top, 4-2. For the game, Freeman had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nice, tidy little win," Freeman said after the game.
Brooklyn now has a record of 21-13 with the win.
