Eagles Win Squeaker, 7-6, Over Quakers
|
Washington left fielder Alan Cassill helped his team beat the Philadelphia Quakers, 7-6. Cassill, the 17th overall pick in the 1969 draft, went 3 for 5 for the Eagles. The Eagles go to 13-21 with the win.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Cassill hit a sinker from Bill Smith for a run-scoring single. The Eagles, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Cassill said in his postgame press conference.
