Wranglers Handle Toronto, Snag 3-1 Win
|
The Dallas Wranglers earned a close win over the Toronto Hurons, thanks in part to Charlie Sokol. The Dallas left-hander, who is tied for 6th in the ABL in innings pitched with 56.2, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Frank Dunn was credited with the save for Dallas, his 11th of the season. Toronto's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
Mike Weatherby had a big 2-run home run for the Wranglers in the bottom of the third inning. With Dallas leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a changeup from Dan Crumm, who finished 3rd in the ABL in strikeouts with 198 in 1972, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Wranglers on top, 3-0.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Sokol.
