Milwaukee Dispatched, 5-2, by Brooklyn
|
Brooklyn picked up a win at Flatbush Park, bumping off the Milwaukee Dairymen, 5-2. Pitcher Ron Haney was a major reason the Bluebirds emerged victorious. Dave Norman recorded the save for Brooklyn, his 1st of the season. The third-place Bluebirds have won 5 straight games.
Oscar Gonzalez had a big 2-run double for the Bluebirds in the bottom of the first inning. With Brooklyn leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Davalos and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bluebirds ahead, 3-0.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Haney.
