Underwood Shines in 8-3 New York Win
The New York Knickerbockers topped the Milwaukee Dairymen, 8-3, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. New York right fielder Bob Underwood was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs. New York pitcher Jack Forbes earned the win, hiking his record to 4-3. Dan Valenti suffered the loss. New York, now 20-16, holds down third place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.

New York used the hitting of Francisco Chavez to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Knickerbockers on top, 4-1. For the game, Chavez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Chavez told the New York News.
