Bluebirds Top Knickerbockers, 2-1, Behind Rutherford

The 1967 season began for the New York Knickerbockers with a loss to the Brooklyn Bluebirds at Knickerbocker Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Brooklyn pitcher Damon Rutherford had a fine performance. Bob Hill earned the save for Brooklyn, his 1st of the year.
Rutherford earned the win to move to 1-0. In his 8.1-inning performance, he scattered 2 hits, striking out 8 and walking 2. The right-hander allowed the Knickerbockers few scoring opportunities.
