Fans saw a dandy of a game between the New York Knickerbockers and Chicago Traders.

The New York Knickerbockers converted a terrific effort from starter Chris Hull into a win over the Chicago Traders at Knickerbocker Stadium. The Knickerbockers won the game by a final score of 2-1. In 7 innings, Hull surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Ollie Hundley, who led the NBL in saves with 36 in 1972, nailed down the save.

Second Baseman Steve Wright made an impact for New York, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Skip Crawford in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Wright went 1-3 with a double and a walk.

"Chris was hitting his spots and everything had life," said New York manager Timothy Widholm.

New York is now 19-17, Chicago 23-14.
