8-3 Loss Extends Houston Losing Streak
|
Chicago Hawks starter Carl Taylor pitched a strong game against the Houston Drillers at Hyde Park Stadium, leading the Hawks to victory, 8-3. In 9 innings, Taylor surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Houston now has a 6-game losing streak.
The Hawks got a big hit from third baseman Tom Greenlee. In the bottom of the sixth, Greenlee pounded a grand slam home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season put the Hawks ahead, 8-3.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Steven Palps told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
