The San Francisco Seagulls picked up a win at Atlantic Station Field, dropping the Atlanta Generals, 7-3. Paul Wiley, who finished 4th in the NBL in ERA with 3.09 in 1959, was the difference-maker. San Francisco leads the American Baseball League Western Division by 4 games.

San Francisco right fielder Jose Sosa contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a knuckle curve to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 34th hit of the season and put the Seagulls ahead, 4-3.

"Paul is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
