Quakers Get Clutch Win, 3-2
|
Philadelphia parlayed a decent outing from starter Ralph Weintraub into a solid win over the Washington Eagles. The final score was 3-2. Art Wohlt earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 2-4. The triumph makes Philadelphia 12-25.
Ron Paige, who is tied for 10th in the NBL in triples with 2, had a direct impact on the outcome. Paige contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Philadelphia up, 3-2.
Washington manager Brandon Tucker said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
