Philadelphia Quakers starter Bob Freeland turned in a top-notch performance against the St. Louis Explorers at Quakers Stadium. The result was a win for the Quakers, 5-2. Philadelphia currently is in third place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division at 19-18.
The Quakers got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Charlie Wright. For the game, Wright went 1-1 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Philadelphia a 3-2 lead.
"It's not about individual awards," Wright told a Philadelphia Bulletin reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
